Have Input into Healthcare Planning for Auckland North 24 May 2013

Opportunity to engage in health care planning for Auckland North

Health Link North invites NGOs and health professionals involved in the health of the Auckland North community to join a discussion on locality planning for Auckland North. We also welcome public participation.

  • 10.00am to 12.00pm, Friday 24th May 2013

  • Rotary House Silverdale, 4 Hibiscus Coast Highway Silverdale

Guest speaker: Ailsa Claire, Chief Executive Officer Auckland District Health Board and Lead CEO of Locality Planning for Auckland and Waitemata DHBs. Ailsa will speak on locality planning, collaboration between the two DHBs and the Self Directed Care model.

A Discussion Panel will provide opportunity to ask questions direct from the floor. The Panel will include senior locality planning representatives from Waitemata District Health Board and Auckland North primary care organisations.

This is an opportunity not to be missed. Be informed, engage with and provide feedback to locality planners to ensure our health services meet the future needs of the Auckland North community.

Meet Annie Chapman and view the Mental Notes documentary on Sunday 17th Feb, Auckland as part of her One Woman Walking: Hikoi for a Big reTHiNK of Mental Healthcare Choices.

PROGRAMME:

  • 2.00pm – Screening of the NZ Documentary “Mental Notes” followed by questions with the filmmaker Jim Marbrook.
  • 3.30pm – Afternoon tea
  • 3.45pm – Annie Chapman – will talk about her hikoi and the insights of her journey so far.

COST: Suggested koha of $5.00.

All funds raised will go to support Annie’s walk. Any extra funds will be donated to the Hearing Voices Network Aotearoa NZ

Living Wage NZ Meetings 30 Aug 2012 Wellington / 31 Aug 2012 Auckland

Living Wage Aotearoa New Zealand – Auckland is meeting on Friday, August 31 to develop the next important steps in their new movement.

They will plan the delegations to the Auckland Council Local Boards in September and October to raise awareness of the living wage and to seek their support for a Living Wage Council.

They need all the support and help you can offer in this project!

The meeting will then decide on the resources needed for their conversations with all the different communities they touch base with.

Please feel free to join in with either discussion.

WHAT ARE THE POLITICAL PARTIES DOING TO ADDRESS AUCKLAND’S HOUSING CRISIS?

AUCKLAND’S AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS: Election meeting to hear the housing policies of the main political parties

COME TO THIS IMPORTANT ELECTION MEETING! 

  • THURSDAY NOVEMBER 3RD, 7PM – 8.30PM, followed by refreshments
  • Freemans Bay Community Centre – Auditorium
  • 52 Hepburn Street, Freemans Bay, Auckland

Candidates or spokespeople from National, Labour, Green, Maori, ACT, Mana, and NZ First Parties have been invited to give their policies on addressing the lack of affordable, quality housing in the Auckland region, and their overall direction in housing policy.

Shortage of supply, the growing crisis of overcrowding, the impact of HNZC reforms on most vulnerable families / individuals, high proportion of Maori & Pacific Island Homeless,  poor quality and security of the private rental sector are just some of the many pressing concerns.

They will lay out their broad policy and answer a set of questions.

Speakers confirmed are:

  • Carmel Sepuloni, MP, Labour’s associate spokesperson on social development and candidate for Waitakere
  • Paul Hutchinson MP, National, MP for Hunua and Chair, Health Select Committee.
  • Alan Johnson, Green Party spokesperson on housing

This meeting has been organised by community organisations involved with Housing Call to Action, a broadbased network of housing and social service organisations working in West Auckland and more recently in South Auckland.
