ASIST Two Day Workshop to Learn Suicide First Aid Skills: Thames

2 day workshop: Saturday March 29th 9.00am – 5.00pm.
Sunday March 30th 9.00am – 5.00pm.

Venue: Richmond Villas (follow road to 2 storey building at rear)
82 Richmond Street, Thames
Cost: $250 includes materials, morning and afternoon tea, we need you there both days!

AIM: to learn suicide first aid skills.

You will learn to recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide and respond in ways that help increase safety and link them to further help.
FOR: any adult. You may need suicide first aid skills at work, within family or whanau or with someone you don’t know.

During 2 day ASIST you will:
• consider how attitudes and experiences affect helping
• discuss suicide risk openly and directly
• learn and apply a model for suicide first aid intervention
• share ways to care for and support yourself as a helper

National Mental-Health Awareness Week begins on the 6th of October and runs through to the 12th of October. This year the theme is Connect.

ANNIES FAREWELL FROM AUCKLAND

It’s now confirmed that Annie Chapman’s send-off from Auckland will be from Aotea Square starting at noon on Friday 22nd. All welcome!!

Annie will continue her way along the Te Araroa Trail on her Hikoi to Wellington to seek better mental healthcare choices for those who experience mental-health problems.
