Team Leader Wanted for Peer-Led Service

Nurse / Team leader, Rodney Based

Connect SR are looking for a passionate, energetic and experienced team leader for a brand new community based, Mental Health residential service, which will be used as an alternative to hospital admission. The service will be based in the Rodney area.

This is to be a Peer Led service employing Peer Support workers who all come from a background of lived experience.

The position requires someone who can co-ordinate a 24hr, 7 day a week, shift rostered team. The successful person will be able to embrace and support a service delivery model which is non clinical in approach.

Connect would like to hear from people with the unique combination of most or all of the following qualifications and experience:

  • Current nursing registration
  • Experience working in the mental health sector
  • Their own lived experience of Mental health issues
  • Experience in leading or managing a team

The following are desirable skills and attributes, which will be an advantage:

  • Core line management skills / experience
  • Knowledge / experience of Peer Support
  • Familiarity with Intentional Peer Support model
  • Supervision training and experience
  • Experience in recruitment of staff
  • Experience in a residential setting

Peer Support is highly relational and as such we are looking for someone with:

  • A high degree of self awareness
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Fantastic communication skills

The Service opening is anticipated to be in June and as such Connect are looking for someone to start sooner rather than later.

Infoline Team Leader at HRC

  • Position: Infoline Team Leader, Enquiries & Complaints Team
  • Responsible to: Chief Mediator (Manager, Enquiries and Complaints)
  • Responsible for: Staff supervision
  • Location: Auckland
  • Salary: Band C
  • Status: Permanent, full time

Responsibilities include the following:

  • provide a front-line service for individuals contacting the Commission with enquiries on human rights issues by effectively assessing enquiries and complaints to determine appropriate action
  • organise roster and provide staff supervision to ensure that the Infoline is operating efficiently and effectively
  • capture and report on information on complaints/enquiries received

Person specifications:

  • knowledge and experience in providing helpline service
  • excellent communication skills, actively listens, draws out information competency and checks understanding, expresses information effectively, both orally and in writing
  • experience of staff supervision, performance management and development
    • experience of managing a database and analysing data
    • effective use of interviewing skills to establish and maintain trust, to elicit relevant information, maintain confidentiality and to record information clearly and accurately without influencing responses
    • experience in breaking complex information down logically to identify key aspects,  including what is being sought and any links between information from different sources
    • aware of the functions of various government and non-governmental agencies for referral purposes and media awareness
    • experience in workflow management
