Exclusive two hour role play workshop with the team from Mind Over Manner

This is a specialist workshop designed for parents, family, tutors and significant others who are in close association with those teenagers who think and learn differently.

There is a significant increase in the number of teens who suffer anxiety, who struggle to participate in large groups or to feel like they ‘belong’. This workshop will focus on cognitive and sensory processing differences and those who have high functioning aspergers (ASD). Using a skilled facilitator, hypothetical or real life scenarios are played out by experienced actors and then improved… shaped… altered using the input and suggestions from the audience. This will be an extremely valuable, entertaining and eye opening experience.

Mind Over Manner Role Play Workshop for Parents of Teenagers who Think and Learn Differently

Tuesday February 25th

This workshop focuses on THE TRANSITION from the summer holidays to school, the management of new timetables, new people , new classrooms and a new environment.

You will look at how this impacts at school and also the family when the individual brings their anxieties home.

This specialist workshop is designed for parents with teenagers who think and learn differently. There is a significant increase in the number of children who have difficulty with existing learning methods and who struggle to participate in large groups.

This workshop will increase the understanding of and develop vital communication skills for working with teens with cognitive and sensory processing differences (eg, Asperger’s, ADD, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and OCD).

Using a skilled MoM facilltator, hypothetical and real life scenarios are played out by experienced actors
and then improved..shaped…altered using the input and suggestions from the audience.

Mind over Manner provides practical pathways to help improve relationships and behavioural outcomes,
and promotes a deeper understanding with which to successfully navigate these vital teenage years.

Dealing with Issues of Separation: 6-Week Courses for Parents in Pakuranga

Pakuranga Counselling Centre is offering a Course to give support, skills and insight to parents who find themselves separated or divorced (or about to separate).  It will help participants to understand what they and their children are actually going through, the short and long term issues that arise, and how best to deal with them.

The course is facilitated by experienced facilitators/family therapists, and is only $30 for an informative and helpful six week course.

After Work Support Group for Families of People with Eating Disorders Starts 23 May 2012

EDANZ is starting a monthly “Drop In After Work” Support Group for people who care for others with long term/severe eating disorders. The 1st group starts on Wednesday 23rd May 5 – 6.30pm.

Supporting someone with a longterm eating disorder can be extremely challenging and isolating. This EDANZ group is starting in response to feedback from family/whanau and it is hoped that the group will help support people in this situation.

Join other families for a relaxed and supportive get together.
