Development of New Health Promotion Website for Older People

Age Concern North Shore on behalf of the 7 Age Concern’s in the Auckland region that make up our Health Promotion Advisory group is currently in negotiations with ACNZ re a MOU which shares responsibility between us for maintaining the Agewell Health Promotion website http://www.agewell.org.nz/ for older people.  It is our hope that the website will grow and that we will have content from around New Zealand to include on our Community Notices http://www.agewell.org.nz/by_region_auckland.html pages.  To this end we would love to receive information from you on your upcoming HP programmes.

It is an intention that the Community Notices http://www.agewell.org.nz/by_region.html pages will have content not just from Age Concerns around the country, but also other organisations and providers.  We would like your assistance to make this happen by networking with other organisations and providers, including Maori groups, Public Health Units and DHB’s in your region who are providing HP initiatives for older people and who may like to post their programmes.  We are also happy to provide links to their own websites for further information.

Please help us increase our profile in leadership and collaboration for Health Promotion for older people by promoting this site.  Other organisations who may not want their information on an Age Concern Website may be encouraged to post it on this site which we hope to develop as the first stop for Health Promotion for Older People across NZ and which can then link to our Age Concerns and other bodies.

Meantime we appreciate your help and would like to have the map of NZ filled up with your HP activities and programmes.

Funded Home Support for Older People Available

Miranda Smith Homecare would really love to hear from anyone who is currently supporting or knows of someone whom could really use some additional home based support but are not in a position to currently finance it themselves.

They have 20-hours a month of funded home-support available on application.

From the information sheet:
Each case referred to our free care initiative will be assessed on an individual basis by the team in our Auckland office.  There is a limit to the amount of free care we will be able to provide (20hrs per month) so at this stage we intend to look at referred clients on a first in first serve basis in conjunction with consideration of where we can make the most difference and our ability to provide the appropriate services

Contact Jacinta Gray for more information and a copy of the referral request form.
