Supporting Mental Health Awareness Week 2014

A movie filmed in Auckland, NZ. This is a wonderful opportunity to see a film which not only opens a window of understanding into the world of people with a mental diagnosis, it is a chance to see a New Zealand film with artistic merit. The lead character in the film, Arthur, a psychiatric patient who believes he is the Second Son of God, is played by Rawiri Paratene (Whale Rider).

Keep Learning Art Exhibition | Wellington 6-12 October

Kites Trust are celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week (6th – 12th October) in Wellington with an exhibition of works that focus on this year’s theme; ‘Keep Learning’. Come to the opening at Vincents Gallery on Tuesday October 7th between 4pm and 6pm or drop in during business hours any day until Sunday the 12th. All welcome!

The Toi Ora Artists Collective proudly present IMAGINE.
These artists provide a unique framework that brings together a range eclectic imagery informed by life experience and translated into personal narrative through art. The artists use a range of media including painting, ceramics, photography, mixed media, creative writing and printmaking. Workshops for Mental Health Awareness Week | Auckland

For the first time, Mental Health Awareness Week (October 6-12) is featuring workshops to encourage the community to Keep Learning.

From raw food cooking, easy entertaining, terrarium making, printmaking, drawing and spoken word workshops, to a presentation on the Hauora community garden project and a film about food production and seed saving, there’s sure to be something that will take your fancy.

These Auckland-based workshops are being held by the Mental Health Foundation of NZ in conjunction with Nature’s Nutrition, New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, Studio One, Toi Ora Live Art Trust, Lot23, Hauora Garden Project and Nga Taonga Sound and Vision.

There are a range of workshops for both adults and children – perfect for the school holidays.
