Come along to Changing Minds free workshop if you would like to learn more about sensory modulation and how it can be used to improve your quality of life. The session will consider different sensory approaches for different needs, such as high moods and low moods, and hope to begin identifying your own sensory preferences.

Mental illness affects us all.  46% of people are expected to experience mental illness at some time in their lives.  Each person’s family/whanau/friends/colleagues are also affected in various ways.

A diagnosis of mental illness does not say anything about a person’s capabilities, personality or future.  In fact, the very act of dealing with mental illness gives people extraordinary strength of character.

Like Minds Taranaki is seeking a person who has:

  • Personal direct or indirect experience of mental illness
  • Knowledge of the mental health sector – Kaupapa Maori and non Maori
  • Leadership, Management and administration experience
  • Understanding and who is non-judgemental and supportive
  • Initiative, passion and absolute integrity

The successful applicant would be responsible to a totally supportive loyal trust and responsible for a small effective dedicated team and a significant number of wonderful volunteers.

Manager – Regional Consumer Network 

The Regional Consumer Network -Auckland’s key membership Network for people with mental health and addiction issues, is seeking a skilled and experienced Manager.

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced manager and demonstrate the ability to organise people, time, and resources to achieve strategic goals, as well as build and strengthen stakeholder relationships. As this is a membership organisation, a willingness and commitment to engaging with members is vital.

Ideally the applicant will also be able demonstrate business development experience and act on business opportunities.

The role also requires the day-to-day leadership of the small team of dedicated staff. An understanding of and appreciation for the use of IT in communications is highly desirable. Skills in all aspects of Microsoft office are required, along with good communication skills in person and in writing.

The person we seek is also able to demonstrate an understanding of and affinity with lived experience of mental illness. We welcome applications of those with lived experience of mental illness and or addiciton issues. Service delivery in this organisation honours the Treaty of Waitangi and working in partnership with Maori.
