Round the Bays: Free sponsored Places!

Youth Horizons is a not for profit organisation providing evidence-based sustainable solutions for families, children and young people who are at risk of poor outcomes due to complex behavioural and/or mental health needs. Established 16 years ago Youth Horizons creates its own evidence-derived programmes as well as adopting the top performing international evidence based models.

We are recruiting an enthusiastic Therapist to join our Functional Family Therapy team based in Auckland. Functional Family Therapy (FFT) is an extensively developed evidence-based approach to working with youth who have significant conduct problems and their family/whanau. The FFT Therapist provides weekly therapy sessions in the families’ own homes. Aside from intensive training, considerable support will be provided from Youth Horizons through regular supervision.
The ideal FFT Therapist will:

  • Be confident, self aware, and adaptable in their approach
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Have a good feel for family dynamics
  • Possess a strong understanding of cultural contexts
  • Be skilled at engaging and helping young people and families
  • Have family therapy training and experience
  • Have CBT, DBT, psychodynamic knowledge and/or counseling skills
  • Be a registered health professional (psychotherapist, psychologist, social worker) under the Health Practitioners Competency Act and hold or be in the process of securing registration with your governing body
