Enrolments Open for Toi Ora’s Express Yourself Creative Youth Wellbeing Projects

It’s almost term 4 and recruitment time again for Toi Ora’s Express Yourself Creative Youth Wellbeing projects.

WHAT: An inspirational mix of spoken word, visual arts and music

FOR: 14-16 year olds

VENUE: Glen Innes Family Centre, 122 Elstree Ave, Glen Innes.

WHEN: Thursdays 24 Oct – 18 Dec (9 weeks)

TIME: 3.30- 6pm (3.30 chat and catch up, workshop starts 4pm)

Don’t know Express Yourself yet? Express Yourself is a FREE multi-media arts experience for young people facing challenges in their lives. This exciting and innovative project helps participants to develop new interests and skills, grow in confidence and motivation, strengthen relationships and connections with peers and community, and … well express themself!

Transport is not provided so please ensure that registered participants have the necessary support to attend projects.

NB. Toi Ora also has projects in Mt Roskill (age 14-16) and Grey Lynn (17-24).

Express Yourself Creative Youth Development Course in Glen Innes Starts 7 May 2013

Toi Ora is proud to announce the launch of the Express Yourself Creative Youth Development course in Glen Innes for youth aged between 14 to16 in support of emotional health and wellbeing.

The course will be held at Ruapotaka Marae , the first “Taster” component starting on Tuesday 7th May to 9th July, followed by an in depth module in term 3.

Express Yourself will expand to accommodate a broader age range and arts practice in response to needs.

Please pass on to colleagues/services that have young people who would benefit from this creative arts project that live in or near Glen Innes.

As transport is not provided please ensure that registered students have the necessary support.

English Classes for Refugees & Migrants

ENGLISH CLASSES – Beginner to Elementary level

Low cost English classes for adult refugees & migrants in listening, speaking, reading & writing in Onehunga, Panmure & Glen Innes.  The classes are 2 hours per week and cost $20 for the term for permanent NZ residents.

Dr Tess Liew is a well known community psychologist and psychotherapist. She is of Malaysian descent but has been living in New Zealand for decades. She is the manager of community development agency, Ka Mau Te Wero Charitable Trust) and chair of the Asian Network Incorporated. She has been engaged in community participatory action research since 1998 in the Glen Innes and wider Tamaki area
