GENERAL MANAGER FOR MENTAL HEALTH ORGANISATION

Equip, a leading mental health organisation, is offering a rare opportunity for someone to become part of our Senior Management Team as the General Manager. Equip is an extension of Windsor Park Baptist Church with a rich heritage and a Christian ethos. We employ over 70 staff and support close to 300 people every week who experience major mental health issues.

At the heart of Equip are our values which are service user, family/whānau and quality focused. We are a professional organisation with high performance teams that operates from a Christian perspective in partnership with others in the wider sector.

Equip is seeking a person with strong managerial experience to manage a vibrant and growing range of services. The General Manager will work closely with Equip’s CEO, staff and DHB services to deliver outstanding service quality to service users and their family/whānau.

This is a full time position based on Auckland’s North Shore.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Being a key member of the senior management team in setting and achieving organisational strategic aims.
  • Establishing and meeting organisational key performance indicators.
  • Leading and supporting the service delivery team to meet organisational expectations.
  • Contribute to the setting and meeting of organisational budgets.
  • Tendering, service development and contract management.
  • Planning and management of service change.
  • Overseeing external auditing.
  • Effectively managing serious incidents and complaints.
  • Maintaining strong relationships across the mental health sector and related areas.

Person specification:

  • Has strong managerial experience. preferably in the mental health sector or related sectors
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, and to the diverse communities that access Equip’s services.
  • Knowledgeable of the current NGO and DHB environment.
  • Preferably holds a health and/or management qualification.
  • Has a proven track record in implementing change.
  • An experienced team builder.
  • A team player who demonstrates strong initiative.
  • Shows a strong commitment to the mental health sector.
  • A demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Demonstrates a confident, professional and approachable leadership style.
  • Remains calm, supportive of colleagues and productive during times of increased stress.
