Grief Centre

The Grief Centre runs a variety of support groups, looking at different aspects of loss and grief each week. There are two groups starting in September. Suicide Prevention Day is this month, so the second group is particularly relevant.

Bereavement Support Group (Henderson): A support group for those who have experienced a bereavement sometime in the last few years. This is an opportunity to meet with others who may have been through similar experiences. This group will run for eight weeks and is facilitated by qualified and experienced counsellors. Each week they look at different aspects of the grief and loss experience, giving you the opportunity to talk about your loss, and reflect on the changes this has brought to your life. With this may come new understanding of what has happened and ways to adjust to this loss.

The group in Henderson will be held on Tuesdays 7-9pm, starting 16 September.

Suicide Bereavement Support Group (Central Auckland): This support group is for people who have had a family member or close friend die by suicide. It is an opportunity to connect with others who have experienced loss by suicide and to also benefit from the support and experience of two professional and experienced counsellors who will facilitate the group. There will be a structure which supports people to explore their loss in a safe environment as well as the opportunity to share their experiences with others. Each session will offer valuable information and discussion points as well as open conversation.

The group will be facilitated by qualified and experienced counsellors and will run for eight weeks on Wednesdays, 7 – 9 pm starting on 17 September.

Registrations are essential for both groups. Please contact The Grief Centre on 418 1457 or email info@griefcentre.org.nz for information about this group and others due to start soon around Auckland.
