Youth Development Worker wanted at Youthline

We are looking for experienced youth workers to join the Youthline team working in Waitakere and Rodney.

You will have a proven track record of engaging with Maori & Pacific youth, especially young men, and whanau, communities, colleagues and stakeholders to support positive change.

Your passion, enthusiasm and experience means that you thrive on being on-the-go and out in the community. You are keen to do a bit of everything; including facilitating leadership and development programmes, mentoring, individual assessment, interventions, delivering presentations, and professional liaison.

You will have sound knowledge of the principles of youth development, group dynamics and health promotion. Your professionalism is a given and
you complete related administrative tasks with ease.

Your key responsibilities would include:

  • Running development and leadership programmes
  • Providing one-on-one assessments for young people
  • Providing interventions for young people to achieve outcomes
  • Linking with key community stakeholders
  • Undertaking regular supervision and reflection on your work
  • Community networking, development and events
  • Record keeping and administrative tasks

You must have:

  • A minimum of 3 years full-time experience in youth related employment
  • A passion and heart for young people
  • Good administration, written communication and public-speaking skills
  • Knowledge ofWest Auckland  and/or Rodney communities
  • Ideally a Level 4 or higher qualification in social services or a related field.
  • Flexibility and a can-do attitude
