There will be plenty of chances to ask questions, discuss problems and look at some resources.

Skylight’s workshop, Talking About, ‘A therapeutic pathway into mindfulness for children’ is on Friday 10th July | 9.30am-5pm. This workshop will explore mindfulness relating to our own personal practice and then the practical applications to children and young people, both at an individual and class level; draw on John’s research; and share the learnings relating to emotional awareness and resilience, cognitive awareness and social skills with children. Express Yourself, De-Stress Yourself

creative workshops for 17-25 (ish) year olds, Term 2 2015

This group has had an awesome start to the year in a new location – the Campbell Free Kindergarten building in Victoria Park. They have created land art, learned to drum, and are now exploring mindful photography. Along the way thay’ve grown some great connections and had heaps of fun together.

For next term, the group has highlighted some areas they are keen to explore further – dance/circus, craft and sculpture – so that’s what they’re scheduling, with plenty of space for people to choose their own areas of interest.

Please help us spread the word about these workshops to any young people in this age range who you think may benefit from the course. Details are below and on the attached flier:

When: Mondays 1-3 pm, 20 April-29 June (no class Anzac Day or Queen’s Birthday)
Where: Campbell Free Kindergarten, 203-271 Victoria Street West, Victoria Park, Auckland CBD

Canterbury Mental Health Directory and Guide

Engage Aotearoa recommends the Canterbury Mental Health Directory as a great place to start if you would like to seek help with an emotional, relational or mental health issue. It lists a number of support groups in Canterbury.

If you are asking yourself questions like these: “What sort of help do I need? Who should I go to? What will it cost? How private will it be? Will I have to wait?” this directory attempts to answer these and other questions in understandable language and with your best interests at heart. The directory can be found here. (Note from Engage: You could also try out our Community Resources Directory, which has some South Island entries.)

The website also features a superb guide for starting out seeking help, found here.
